I've been working on recording this song for the last few weeks. I think it's coming along rather nicely. In case you weren't sure, every voice, and every instrument you hear in this song is me. I wrote it, I recorded it, and I composited each channel down from multiple takes, and programmed the mixer rides. I wrote it, I edited it, mixed it and mastered it. Now I'm sharing it.
Not a rough draft this time, but not quite final yet - let's call this the penultimate draft. There's still some punch-in and compositing work to do, and a metric tonheck of mixer automation to get worked out, and it could use some minor timing tweaks - but this is by far the most technically demanding and complete work I've recorded.

I liked it doc. What are you recording with? PC and sound card or do you have a high end audio interface? What software do you use?
I use an Edirol UA-25 with my PC and still use Cool Edit Pro, as it's easy for me to understand.
I wish you lived closer and we'd be jammin'

Its all strictly lower budget gear.
Mic: AT2020 large diaphragm condenser mic
Channel strip (preamp / compressor): Focusrite trakmaster pro platinum
Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Software: Ableton live 8.2.2
I went with ableton, because it has a handful of FX plugins that really bring out the best in my recordings. Seriously, it's magic sauce on my guitar.
I'd like to eventually step up to Cubase, but that'll have to wait until I'm. Working again.

Thanks, man. I've been really working at improving my recording techniques and equipment in order to deliver a sound that is cleaner, clearer, and more professional.
I realize my stuff isn't really very marketable, but I'm just not willing to follow the current trends.

Music is food for the soul. I would not worry about being marketable. I'm sure an artist doesn't paint with that thought in mind...well, maybe some. But that's not what creating music is about for me. I think a lot of recording artists don't think about that either. Music is an amazing and mysterious gift, which is quite difficult to even define, when you think about it. What is music? I know there's definitions, but it really is something incredible to me. Right now I've been playing a lot of blues. LOL

There is a definition for music.. musical activity (singing or whistling, etc.), a punishment for one's actions (you have to face the music), any agreeable (pleasing and harmonious) sounds, the sounds produced by singers or musical instruments (or reproductions of such sounds), or an artistic form of auditory communication incorporating instrumental or vocal tunes in a structured and continuous manner.
Hahahehaheheh LOL!! I remember that off the top of ny head... Type 789 if you think I'm lying
