I hate election season. All of the thousands of different issues get boiled down and lumped together into precisely TWO one size fits all choices.
On one hand, you have the party that can't actually accomplish anything even when they have a 3 way majority, because they're all too busy trying to save all of the homeless starving gay baby whales.
And on the other hand, you have the party that wants to legislate their version of morality into law, while letting children starve in the streets and turning the country into a theocracy.
And somehow, we've been convinced on a national scale that these are the only two opinions possible on the entirety of politics. And while there is that OTHER party, which we are told has no chance of victory, there is yet to be a serious party that supports true personal liberty, but also corporate regulation (as opposed to personal regulation and corporate liberty). In fact, just to simplify that point, no party supports personal liberty. And if you don't believe me, start distilling moonshine in your front yard, and let's see how free you are. Start manufacturing and selling bathtub methamphetamine, and advertise it in the newspaper, and lets see how deep freedom really runs.
"Well, that's different. methamphetamine kills people!"
It's still an erosion of personal liberty, as the result of legislated morality. It's no different than telling a gay couple they can't be married, or telling a farmer than he can't cut a tree off his own land. And we're wasting billions fighting it, when we could be making billions selling it and creating new jobs.
But to the original point, personal and corporate liberty are just two among several non-mutually exclusive axes along which party lines could be drawn. What about gun toting tree huggers? What about anti-green liberals? What about pro-green xenophobes? What about those oddballs that think we should cut spending, AND raise taxes equitably across the board. These people have got to be out there.
Occupy and the Tea Party both have a part of it right. There is no real representation for us. No real choices, just the same old divisive bullshit that was designed to keep us fighting with each other, instead of taking a stand against the assholes in charge.
Fuck it. I'm voting for China to nuke us in 2012.

I have been watching walking dead and thinking about society from that angle. if you think about it a post zombie apocalypse world would realize they have bigger shit to worry about then taxes, or politics and get to a more universal stance on just fucking living. so all the zombies are dead because we decided on a mutual goal of living instead of being dead. why the fuck can we not use this logic instead of politicians stroking here huge self rightious cocks and wondering what there next move should be to stay in office to waste air
im afraid to go back to washington again last time I went I had huge asthma problems and its only now that I realize it was because i was in an area the wastes more air with people breathing then anywhere on earth.
just suppose in a realistic scenario with dead zombie's walking around what do you think would come out of our extreme bureaucracy? how long do you think a decision would take to rid the world of the zombie menace. would everyone in the world pitch in or would they be like "haha you have zombie's and we dont why dont you go and screw yourself while watching judging amy and punching yourself in the face"
but then the other countries see you as being a dick and when the zombies come after your country you can only watch as one of the worlds largest super powers is destroyed by a bunch of brainless flesh craving walking dead people. wait................fuck it thats what is currently going on now. I retract my whole argument.
peace and dont forget to buy a crossbow!
