Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I was on here.
Does everyone recommend Soulseek to download full music albums, or single songs without getting on a friends list? Or would someone recommend torrents? Would it be possible to download from Soulseek without the wish list? If not, how long does it take for the actual download to start once added to the wish list?
Does everyone recommend Soulseek for music?

Welcome back, php111!
I personally love Soulseek. I mean I love Bittorrent too, but what albums I am unable to find on Bittorrent, Soulseek fills the gap. I also find Soulseek great for rare files, that you usually don't see on BT. I D/l a lot of classical music in singles, which is another reason I like SS. The only con is SS is not as fast, but the files do come.

Thank you for your reply!
Could I find everything on SS without a wish list, and without being on a friends list?

I found everything I was looking for the other day. I can't promise you'll find everything you want, but it's easy enough to try out. I can't see why you wouldn't like it.

how is soulseek still alive in the first place. I know kinda an odd question... but hell isn't it centralized even? It's practically equivalent to a tracker..

ha! excellent question, and one of the last great mysteries of the original p2p era. how indeed, when a simple record label take-down notice or ICE action would shutter this centralized system indefinitely? and yet, and yet...despite being developed by a refugee from the RIAA-killed napster network ten years ago it still thrives.

Soulseek to me is a haven for lost but not forgotten music.
I have resurrected obscure artists from soulseek to Bitorrent trackers, have discovered so much from the wish lists and have completed my entire Beatles bootleg catalog.
the speed is not the fastest but the treasures that one can find in this client and network makeup for that. patience is a virtue with SS and when you find what you are looking for it is the equivalent to finding your long lost album in a dusty thrift store.
