Hi everyone. It's been a long while since I came by here. Got other things to do.

But I wanted to tell you all - in case some of you haven't heard:

Jon Newton, the owner of p2pnet.net suffered 2 mild heart attacks almost two weeks ago.
He was hoping to be back home last week, but instead needed open heart surgery to clear
a couple of blockages. The surgery took place this past Monday, 4 April, 2011.

His wife Liz and daughter Emma posted an update on p2pnet today saying that "Jon has developed
post-op complications and he is not doing very well right now. We hope his situation will
improve in the next couple of days. I will keep you posted."

"It would really help Jon to know p2pnet readers have rallied behind him to carry on and
to keep this site functioning in a polite and productive manner."

"For the moment, if any of you have interesting links or any other RELEVANT information
you think fellow readers might like to know about, please post them under this story as comments."

As a longtime contributor for p2pnet - and I know some of you here have also contributed
articles and comments - I ask you to please help by contributing any links or articles to
p2pnet.

I also ask - if you're so inclined - to have warm thoughts and/or prayers for Jon, Liz and Emma
as they go through this ordeal.

Jon created p2pnet years ago for his own personal use, but it soon became immensely popular
and sometimes controversial. And he does it for free.

Readers and contributors have relied and depended on Jon to report and explain the truth. Now
Jon is relying and depending on us.

Please, let's help Jon and his family keep p2pnet going while Jon recovers. He's done so
much for the community, it's the very least we can do for him at this time. DO NOT LET p2pnet
fade away.

Thanks for listening and I hope to see you all at p2pnet very soon.

As Jon would say, "Cheers!"

While Jon’s Away…

p2pnet view P2P:- As most of you are, hopefully, aware, Jon’s gonna be just fine. He just needs to take a (much-deserved) break from the site, and stress in general. (The resources to connect are extremely limited where Jon is, anyway, likely making it more stressful to even attempt to run the site from his hospital bed.)

Jon had a stroke, perhaps due to post surgery blood clotting. It left him with some hopefully temporary vision problems and weakness in his left side and he is already said to be improving. Recently an infection developed that required reentering surgery and they are now awaiting results of that process.

It sounds very bad and anything of this nature is serious but they are optimistic that Jon will regain his health.

One of the things affected by the stroke is Jon’s vision.

So, the bypass was succesful. The stroke doesn’t seem to have been very debilitating – apart from his eyes, Jon has reduced mobility in his left arm and leg but things are already improving. Barring any other major developments, once he is strong enough, he is due to have neurological rehab to work on the effects of the stroke. As I said, we can already see significant improvement and Emma and I are hopeful.

Jon had a little set-back on Thursday with an infection which required them to open him up again yesterday afternoon and I won’t know ’til later today how he is following that. By the way, he is intending to write an article about his operation and all that – he’ll have lots to tell.

Further update, this time from Jon himself:

“In hospital, you meet interesting people, like an ex-RCA executive such as Wayne, who is also here recovering from open heart surgery.

He has some fascinating stories to tell, so stay tuned…”

Tomorrow I’m taking a VERY LITTLE BIT of ice-cream down to these two gentlemen and Wayne has promised to make us some of his superb shortbread when he gets out.

Thanks for all your good wishes.
