For years I've wondered why imaging companies never offered replaceable digital cartridges that worked like 35mm film of old.
Instead of upgrading entire camera systems each time the technology improved, you'd just swap in an newer sensor and save that huge investment in optics and learning you'd put into your gear.
Seemed simple enough but after 20 years of digital photography it hadn't happened.
Until now, maybe.
Today I visited a site that claims they did it and it's coming.
And that's great. Except there are no details, which isn't so great.
Still, I think there's a demand for it and if this or some other company ever brings one to market I think they'll do well.
When that happens I'll be among the first to pop one into my camera.
