Dish Drops Fuse, Launches MTVN's Palladia
Dish Network has dropped MSG Media's Fuse music channel, replacing it with MTV Networks' Palladia, the satellite operator announced Wednesday.
The operator did not provide an explanation for the switch. Customers who subscribe to America's Top 200 package or higher "now receive this upgraded programming in place of Fuse," Dish said in a brief statement.
Palladia is MTVN's HD music channel, but customers with the AT200 tier or higher will have access a standard-definition version of the service, a Dish spokeswoman confirmed. Dish also is offering Palladia HD as part of the Platinum programming package, which is an additional $10 per month (and not covered under the operator's "HD For Life" promotion).
MSG Media said in a statement regarding Dish's decision to drop Fuse: "We offered Dish Network fair and reasonable proposals, including the opportunity to extend our current agreement while we continued to negotiate. On behalf of Dish's customers, we are extremely disappointed that Dish Network has made the decision to drop Fuse and we urge them to return to the negotiating table so that we can reach a fair agreement."
MSG Media is owned by Madison Square Garden Inc., which was spun off from Cablevision Systems earlier this year.
Palladia features music-related content from different MTVN networks including MTV, VH1 and CMT.
Separately, Dish last week was forced to stop carrying four of Walt Disney Co.'s HD channels -- Disney Channel HD, Disney XD HD, ABC Family HD and ESPNews HD -- and those services remain unavailable to subscribers.
In another recent carriage dispute, Dish had threatened to drop The Weather Channel before the parties came to terms on an expanded deal that includes providing the satellite TV operator with localized weather content.

Palladia is a pretty good channel. Lots of concerts. It sucks you're losing Fuse, I've never had it.
