'Deadliest Catch' Captain Suffers Stroke

By PopEater / Wire Services
Posted Feb 2nd 2010 07:01AM

Phil Harris, the Seattle-based captain of the 'Deadliest Catch' fishing vessel was flown to Anchorage after suffering a stroke while the boat was in port at St. Paul Island, Alaska.

According to the Discovery Channel Web site, Capt. Harris underwent surgery over the weekend. His sons, Josh and Jake, joined him there. The Web site account says it may be some time before "anything substantial" is known about Harris' condition.

His sons, Josh and Jake Harris left a quick message on the network's Web site to "thank everyone for their heartfelt thought and prayers. 'The Deadliest Catch' community has always been more like family than just fans, and Discovery Channel joins the Harris boys in thanking everyone for their wishes of support. Captain Phil is resting comfortably and is in the care of excellent doctors and nurses. We will update everyone on his progress as best we can."

The Discovery Channel reality show depicts the crab fishing industry in the dangerous waters off Alaska.

The Web site reports a family friend, Derek Ray, has flown to St. Paul to take over the role of relief skipper for the rest of the opilio crab season.

its good that u quit smokin, that is an expensive habit

if u have heart problems and smokin that is a bad thing
if you have a stroke, u can end up paralyzed or in a nursing home even at a very young age

i like grape juice, and will start drinking it again along with cranberry juice *i will dilute it with water though to watch the sugar
hmm

those deadliest catch guys... I don't think it's cigarettes.

No one works for 4 days straight without some chemical assistance.

I suspect if you fish the Bering Sea at winter, dying is something you laugh at.
