(MP2PN) has become one of of the premire P2P networks. Although smaller than FastTrack, the Manolito network is much more user-friendly, with a diverse array of mp3s. In addtion, it is not plauged by corrupt of false files.

The Manolito network is unique in that it is an mp3 only community; no movies, no videos no ISOs, just music. This has allowed the Manolito network to become a treasure trove of music. From rare to top 40, this network probably has what you're looking for.

The Manolito network has an interesting history, and one that nearly lead to its collapse. Born June 2001 in Spain, the Manolito network is work of sole developer Pablo Soto. Initially, the network only had one client - Blubster. The original client, version 1.2.3, quickly became popular dispite the lack of multi-source downloading.

Slowly, the network grew until turmoil hit. Palbo Soto and Optisoft, the financial backers of Blubster had a falling out. Pablo left the company and began work on his next project, Piolet, which connects to the same network as Blubster. However, since work on Blubster ceased, Piolet was the more advanced of the two. The attention this situation brought about increased the popularity of the network. With all technological development on Piolet, Blubster fell far behind.

Since that time, fences have been mended and Pablo has returned to work on all three clients, bringing them all up to technological speed.

The Manolito P2P network is decentralized. Like FastTrack, WinMX or Gnutella, the MP2PN doen't rely on central servers. In addition, it does not require a gateway server. A gatway server, or host cache server, stores the know IP addresses of computers on the network. On older decentralized networks, you had to get the IP of someone already connected in order to join the community. Although efficient, this technology still left a vulnerability open to the music and movie industry.

The following clients connect to the Manolito P2P network:

Piolet - The ad-ware/spyware free client. With no hidden goodies, this client should be your top pick.

Blubster - The original client for this network. The newer releases are now ad-supported. Also, the latest release claims to have user anonymity.

rocketnet - The latest iteration of the Manolito protocol. Grokster made a licensing agreement with Piolet, which now has rights to RockItNet.

Attached File  ml_search.gif   38.75K   197 downloads

It doesn't get much easier than this. However, there are three main points, as indicated in the snapshot, that we would like to make.

* 1. Use this section here to conduct your search.
* 2. Click the advanced button if you want to narrow your criteria by bitrate and file size.
* 3. Just like any other P2P application, try to download off as many source as possible.

Taking Advantage of Verified (Hash) Links

Most modern P2P communites take advantage of hash links. Manolito clients accept hash links, however there are virtually no sites available yet. Hash links aren't particulary necessary for the Manolito network, as its music only policy and relatively small file sizes make using the search engine the way to go.

Piolet seems to be clean. Getting it to connect when you have a router can be a little tricky too. It took awhile but now it's all good.

I have gotten a few bad files from piolet..but it can be expected...users share the same Folder with all other Networks..I know I do..so once you have a fake..it is shared everywhere till it's deleted.
Remember, LISTEN to everything you download..it's the only way to be sure..there are some programs like 'MP3 Checker' ...but listening is the only true way to tell.

Awesome network with great speed and lots o' files, especially considering its relatively small size. I'm still using Dr. Damn's Clean Blubster, btw. :D

I hadn't used it for quite some time either, but I tried it again just a little while back and decided it wasn't any better than it used to be.

I used to use Piolet a lot, but I got tired of waiting for a new version. Also the amount of fake files grew a little too much for me.

Never used any of the others but I know for sure that Piolet is clean :lmao:

Maybe I'll give it another go when a new version is released.

was there any way to have verified files with this network?
i seem to remember something about it...maybe there is by now
and things are a bit better
i do remember that it was ok at first

i think bitorrent came along and most people flocked to that
maybe it was dead in the water by then already..but i think that would of helped

I'm not sure if the network has or had a verification process or not. However I do know that piolet never had one embedded into it.

I'm one of the people that went to torrents :lmao:

My only issue with torrents is that I fill hard disks to fast!! D'oh :hehe:

Hash links are supported. The last version of Piolet was the beta, 1.83, available here. I wouldn't hold your breath for a new version. Pablo hasn't been heard from in a very long time :hiya:

This is sad, I did a bit of testing for Pablo, I thought it appropriate to post it here. :)

Major Record Labels Sue Spanish P2P Pioneer Pablo Soto, MP2P Technologies, Suit Seeks $20mm USD

Madrid - The major record labels' units in Spain announced on Thursday that they have filed a $20 million copyright infringement claim in the country against Pablo Soto Bravo, the founder of MP2P Technologies -- which operates file-sharing sites including Piolet, Omemo and Blubster. In their complaint, the units of EMI, Sony (NYSE: SNE) BMG, Universal Music and Warner Music (NYSE: WMG) -- represented in Spain by industry trade group Promusicae -- allege that Pablo Soto obtained profits from the sites both via paid advertising, and subscription plans.

Sorry, I didn't see that

I know, a bit late responding, but I thought it was appropriate that the story should be in this forum.
