quickpar is actually pretty easy to use, and once i check the files i usually delete the PAR files!

It is fairly involved to explain the whole process, but anyone who has used WinRAR can easily use QuickPAR. It is almost magical the way it restores corrupt files.

The only problem I have run into is that I can download so much, so quickly, it can take a bit of time to verify and unRAR all the files. But there are much worse problems to have........ :P

You can set QuickPar to do that for you. The only time it does though, if file/s need repairing. Otherwise, you still have to delete them manually. Of course, once your file is opened and rebuilt, you don't need anything in the folder anyway (unless you need the subs), so you can just delete the whole thing. :P

Get RarSlave, it will check through the entire lot of rars in your download directory, repair them if needed and then extract them to the final file. Once it's done that it can auto delete both the rars and the pars. Guide here:

No time wasted manually doing it :P.

Newzgroups are waaay too hard to use and very very unuser friendly. On top of that they are very very slow. You can get cancer from newzgroups too.

Everyone should stay away from them. Nothing to see here, move along.
In fact the only thing in newzgroups are white papers on alternative uses for belly lint and earwax.
Did I say they are evil? Most likely created by Satan to lure newbs into the pits of hell. You really really don't want to mess with newzgroups.
Try Limewire. Really.

Well not exactly. Some of us are still to cheap to pay for access to a news server.

Oh well I still find what I want, just a little slower.

First, check with your ISP. Most provide some kind of NewsServer, but most are really crappy. However RB has a great NewsServer included free with his ISP package. Go to your ISPs site and do a search for NewsGroups or NewsServer. You are looking to see how much bandwidth they provide, (how much do you want to download) speed, (berks provider actually throttled their NewsGroup speed to discourage file downloads) retention, (how long they hold the content before deleting it, this is important, lookfor at least 30 days retention) and any other restrictions they may or may not place upon a NewsServer account. If they provide you with Unlimited bandwidth, no speed restrictions and good retention, look no further. You are golden.

However, if they don't meet the criteria above, you will need to look into purchasing a commercial NewsServer account. This actually may be the best way to go since most providers guarantee a certain amount of anonymity. In any event we have 2 very good providers as advertisers and in the name of full disclosure we will get a small commision if you subscribe to them via our link. I can tell you I have used them both and they are both excellent Servers and as cheap as they come. Usenet-Access is $6mo. for 2 gigs a day and NewsHosting is $14.95 mo. for unlimited. Unlimited is great, since speed is so good, you can really download a lot of files.........

If you decide you want to go through with using NewsGroups, I have written a basic tutorial you can read and if you have any questions we will all be very happy to help you get started.

Hope this helps, it is really a great way to download, as long as you can hook up with a good NewsServer..........
